Studio Act

Studio Act is a London based multidisciplinary design studio bringing together art, interior design and architecture, founded on the belief that good design enriches people’s lives.

We are committed to creating thoughtfully designed architecture and interiors which meet our client’s needs: our aim is to create environments which stimulate the imagination and reflect our love of simple considered details, local construction techniques and material honesty.

We see the design process as a collaboration between the design team, client and contractor. Building on our network of local suppliers, consultants and makers, along with our extensive knowledge of the local planning policy, Studio Act collaborate with our clients to offer an enjoyable experience and create a fulfilling design solution.

Architecture

We oversee our projects from inception to completion, providing full architectural services based on the client’s needs. This includes a rigorous interrogation of the brief, and an understanding of the building’s history and surroundings. We focus on working with individuals to fully understand their needs and realise the potential of each site. We look to maintain the distinctiveness of each place whilst maximising the potential through inventive design solutions.

Interiors

Our interiors are an extension of the building’s narrative, and our focus is always to create a cohesive vision which reflects the client’s personality.

We believe in realising the art of everyday - in our designs we encourage an emphasis on; user experience, craftsmanship, locality, the natural world and sensory experience.

Collaboration

Our collaborations are a celebration of craftsmanship, we love to work with local and independent artists and makers to create truly unique spaces.

Please contact us directly to arrange a design consultation, or to discuss a potential collaboration.

Catherine Wilson

Creative Director and Co-Founder.

After qualifying as an architect, Catherine developed her career at the award-winning practice, CSK Architects. As an Associate of CSK, Catherine led significant projects, such as the creation of a new senior management facility at Eton College & a multi-million pound mixed use development for the Howard de Walden Estate in the heart of Marylebone.  CSK was awarded an RIBA regional award in recognition of the sensitive remodelling and extension of a 1930s Art Deco property, for which Catherine was the project architect.  It was that inventive, adaptive re-use that sparked Catherine’s love for working with historic buildings which continues to be a key sector for Studio Act.

In 2019 Catherine was invited to be on the Southern RIBA regional judging panel, and Catherine continues to work with the RIBA having recently been a student mentor at the University of Reading.

Studio Act promotes the importance of the arts in our society and Catherine is a trustee for South Hill Park Arts Centre, an important local charity and community centre with a vision to inspire, connect and enrich lives through the creative arts.

Anna Hastings

Creative Director and Co-Founder.

After qualifying as an architect, Anna gained over 10 year’s experience within architectural practices in London and Berlin, including erect architecture and raumlabor berlin, working on a wide range of projects from exhibition design; hospitality; and private residential properties.

Following this, Anna went on to work in interior and set design, fashion, and events, working as a senior designer at Storey Studio and My Beautiful City on projects for fashion houses such as Hermès and Adidas.

Studio Act is the culmination of this varied experience: a celebration of the cross overs between art and architecture, and an exploration of how design can enhance the everyday.
